Portrait of Flying Officer Antoni "Tony" Głowacki who shot down five enemy planes in one day on 24 August 1940 while in service with No. 501 Fighter Squadron RAF. He was one of the only three pilots who achieved "ace in a day" status during the Battle of Britain. His decorations include Distinguished Flying Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Virtuti Militari, Cross of Valour and 3 bars. At the time this photograph was taken he served with No. 308 Polish Fighter Squadron, 13 April 1943.
