He was born in 1909, was awarded the Ritterkreuz in November 1941 with 39 victories and finished the war flying the Me262 with JG7, at which time he had 83 victories. The aircraft in the background, 'White 1', is the machine belonging to Hptm. Alfred Muller, Staffelkapitan of 4./JG3.
