It was, literally, a flying wreck. The crew:Lt. James P. Muri, pilot, Lt. James P. Moore, co-pilot, Lt. William W. Moore, navigator, Lt. Russell H. Johnson, bombardier, S/Sgt. John J. Gogoj, radio operator, S/Sgt Frank L. Melo, Jr. , engineer, and Sgt. Earl D. Ashley, gunner. Each was awarded a Distinguished Service Cross.
