Formed 1 Apr 1936 in Dresden-Klotzsche as Luftkriegsschule Dresden, from Luftwaffensonderlehrgang der Heeresinfanterieschule Dresden (formed Jan 1935).

On 15 Jan 1940 redesignated Luftkriegsschule 1 (LKS 1).

Pilot training ended Oct 1944. Disbanded 5 Mar 1945.

Used the following aircraft: Ar 96, Bu 131, Bu 181, C.445, Fw 58, Go 145, Grunau Baby, He 45, He 51, He 70, He 72, He 111, Hs 126, Kl 35, L.101, NA-57, NA-64, W.33 and W.34
