Formed 15 Dec 1939 in Wien-Schwechat as Jagdfliegerschule Wien-Schwechat with 3 staffeln. On 15 Jan 1940 redesignated Jagdfliegerschule 5.

4./JFS5 was formed 1 Jul 1941 in Le Havre-Octeville from the Jabo-Lehrgang/JFS5 with Bf 109E-7 (Olt Fulbert Zink), and was intended to support and for the defence of France. Received the first Bf 109F-2 in Oct 1941. Officially attached to JG2, and on 1 Apr 1942 disbanded. During its 9 month service, the unit had about 80 victories, incl. 17 by Olt. Zink. Based at Le Havre-Octeville Jul 1941-Mar 1942 under Stab/JG2.

5./JFS5 was formed 3 Oct 1941 in Bernay (Jagdlehrerstaffel) under Olt. Karl-Heinz Schnell. On 1 Sep 1942 redesignated

1./JFS5 became 1./JG105
2./JFS5 became 2./JG105
3./JFS5 became 3./JG105
