Formed 1 Mar 1942 in Ploesti from Stab/Flak-Brigade III. In May 1942 transferred to Southern Russia, HQ Mariupol, to support the 17th Armee. Later supported the 1st Panzer-Armee (from Oct 1942?) for operations in the Caucasus (HQ Maikop) with:
1943/44 operations in South Russia, and Bessarabia (Romania), supporting Heeresgruppe Südukraine, later Heeresgruppe Süd.
Organisation 1 Nov 1943:
Stab/Flak-Regiment 104 (mot.) joined the division in Dec 1943, while Stab/Flak-Regiment 153 (mot.) left in Jan 1944.
Organisation 1 Mar 1944:
Stab/Flak-Regiment 7 (mot.) left for the 17. Flak-Division in Apr 1944, while Stab/Flak-Regiment 12 (mot.) joined the division in Jun 1944.
Stab/Flak-Regiment 133 joined the division in Jul 1944.
Organisation 22 Aug 1944 (1 Sep 1944) in Northern Romania:
Stab/Flak-Regiment 104 (mot.) left the division in Nov 1944.
In Sep 1944 absorbed the remnants of the 5th Flak-Division, and withdrew into Hungary. Remained in Hungary until the end, and ended the war at Stuhlweissenburg.
Subordinated to I. Flakkorps, from Sep 1944 Luftflotte 4 and from Nov 1944V. Flakkorps.
