Messerschmitt Bf-109F (H)14.2 or (H)12.4 (B11+) North Africa 1942 01
Photo 01: Besides fighter and Jabo units, the Bf109E and F were used in North Africa by some reconnaissance units. The abandoned Bf-109F served either with 2.(H)/14 or 4.(H)/12, the positioning of the aircraft code number Black 11 behind the fuselage Balkenkreuz being characteristic of these reconnaissance Staffeln.

Of interest is the appearance of the green mottles which suggest that, the painter leaned over the leading and trailing edges of the wing to apply them as the edges show that the spray gun was held at an angle to the wing surface and not at the prescribed 90 degrees.
