Photo 01: As with many single-engined aircraft, the long engine cowling and relatively low position of the pilot combined to produce a blind spot immediately ahead and below. From the position of these aircraft, photographed at Krakow in Poland after a collision on 25 April 1941, it would seem that the Bf-109E of Erg. Gr.JG3 collided with the Ju52 for precisely that reason.
